What is the best age to photograph your baby? There is no right or wrong answer to this question, this all depends on what type of images you would like to have hanging on the wall at home. I have provided you with a few examples below to help you make your decision.

Photograph Newborn from one week to five weeks
When a fresh new baby comes into the studio, the images that we will most likely achieve are sleepy shots. Your baby is a lot more flexible and most of the time stay asleep throughout the session. You might be lucky and get some awake shots.

Photograph Babies from 7 weeks to 12 weeks
Babies at this age are a lot more aware of their surroundings. They want to explore this new world they are in. With a session at this age, we will most likely achieve sleep and awake shots. Keep in mind, that you may not get the sleepy shots. This depends on your baby at the time and how settled they are during the session.

Photograph Babies at three months
When you bring your baby in at three months, they are most of the time awake. This also depends on how your baby is throughout the session. This session, I was able to achieve sleepy and awake photographs.

Photograph Babies at Nine Months of age
Your baby at this age should be able to sit up and engage with me. These sessions are usually up to 30 minutes. We have to be super quick with your baby before they lose interest and start to cry.

Photograph Babies at 12 to 24 months old
When you bring your baby in for a session at this age, there will be a lot of interaction with me and your child. There may be smiles and a lot of running around the studio. I have toys and bubbles to help engage with them to capture their smiles. Best to stay calm throughout the session as they will feed off your energy.
